The Silent Cinema in Song, 1896–1929 An Illustrated History and Catalog of Songs Inspired by the Silent Movies with List of Recordings by Ken Wlaschin (McFarland, 2009) - Which documents the history of songs of the silent cinema has been published and is now for sale. PRESENTATIONThe Silent Cinema in Song, 1896–1929 documents the history of songs of the silent cinema. Part one, "Movies and Movie going," lists and describes songs about movies and movie going created between 1896 and 1929. Part Two, "Movie Personalities and Their Films," provides brief biographies of silent film stars and a description of the songs created about them and for their films. Part Three, "Recordings," reviews the recordings of the songs THE AUTHOR / L'AUTEURThe author is Domitor member Ken Wlaschin, whose previous books include Opera on Screen (with extensive listing of silent opera films) and Encyclopedia of International Movie Stars (with a section on silent stars). Wlaschin was formerly director of the British Film Institute's National Film Theater and London Film Festival and the American Film Institute's National Film Theater and Los Angeles Film Festival. He lives in Palm Springs and the Isle of Wight.
